In late 2007, a new division of The Recycling Center was born. “Book Sales” was started by the hand selection of books dropped off for recycling. Each selected book is listed for sale on the internet. Listing, confirmation e-mails, and packaging is done by employees with disabilities in the Day Supports program.
During the summer and fall of 2009, the book sales endeavor was expanded through the purchase of software and equipment that facilitates book selection, internet listing, and book storage. Sales and employment hours continue to grow as the number of listed books increases.
The public is encouraged to continue donating books! All books are assessed for sales potential. After the initial evaluation, each book is either listed for sale on the internet or disassembled for recycling as paper.
