2009 Volunteer Recognition Program

On Friday, May 29th, the Eleventh Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony was held at the Holiday Inn Riverside.  In keeping with the theme “The Magic of Volunteers”, the MVAW CEO presented a personalized award certificate to each person that added to the Magic of Minot by giving of their time during the previous twelve months.

This year, awards were presented to 14 volunteer sites and 80 volunteers.  The total number of volunteer hours for this year was 5,566 hours (a 13% increase over 2008!).  The highest number of volunteer hours by one person was 856 hours.

Volunteers got involved in two new projects this year:  the “Clean Up Minot” event held annually the first weekend in May and the Adopt-A-Trail project.  Participants took advantage of a chance to enjoy being outside while helping other city residents maintain Minot’s magic.

The magic of volunteering includes not only the service provided to the community, but also an opportunity for social involvement, personal growth, and just plain fun for each volunteer.
