Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering
Volunteering is an important part of many people's lives. The opportunity to give one's own time provides a positive reflection for people. People are supported to volunteer their time and become socially connected to people at various volunteer sites.
Listed below are just a few places that people routinely volunteer.

- Bingo at Trinity Nursing Home: MVAW donates cookies for prizes. Earlier in the day the volunteers wrap each cookie in plastic wrap. At bingo, volunteers assist with handing out the cards and prizes and collecting and putting away the Bingo cards after Bingo is over.
- Bingo at Manor Care: Staff at Manor Care will assist residents to pair up with volunteers and they play Bingo together. At the end of Bingo, the volunteers assist with collecting the cards.
- Sing Along at Trinity Nursing Home: Volunteers hand out music books to the residents. People are supported to sit among the residents and interact with them. At the end of Sing Along, volunteers will help collect the songbooks and put them away.
- Food Pantry: Volunteers pick up donated bread and buns from two local grocery stores, Marketplace & Miracle Mart on Broadway.
The volunteers then proceed to Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry and get ready to bag the buns. People are supported to fill the bags with 6-12 buns per package.
- Meals on Wheels: Volunteers pick up the meals and load the vehicle. Staff assist them to deliver the meal and mark the meal ticket. After they are finished delivering all the meals, they return the warming oven, basket, and list to the Parker Center.
- Humane Society: Volunteers help clean cages, play with the cats and dogs, and walk the dogs.
- Mail Run: Two times a day, volunteers pick up mail from the main workshop and deliver to each group home and NCHSC. They also pick up mail that needs to go back MVAW.
- Salvation Army: During the holiday season, volunteers ring bells for the Salvation Army.
- Headstart: Volunteers assist the teachers by helping the children with projects, interacting with them, etc.
- Music: People with musical talents perform monthly for the residents at the Trinity Nursing Home.
- Retail: People volunteer at various stores and businesses around Minot. These places include ReStore, Dakota Boys & Girls Ranch Store, Independence Inc., Domestic Violence Crisis Center, and WeeLInks Golf Course.
Volunteer Recognition Program
The Volunteer Recognition Program is held annually to recognize all the volunteer hours contributed to the community. Representatives from volunteer sites come to the program to thank the volunteers for their time.
Each person who volunteers throughout the year is recognized and personally congratulated by the CEO. They are asked to come forward to receive a certificate stating the number of hours volunteered. It is a wonderful celebration. Each year the program grows and is attended by more and more volunteers, family members, friends and representatives from the volunteer sites.
