Benefits for Approved Positions

All MVAW positions except substitute and temporary staff qualify for the following benefits:
(Pay period is equal to every two weeks)

Annual Leave

Annual leave starts accruing after the six month probationary period.  

Following the probation period full-time employees will receive -
  • 3.69 hours of annual leave each pay period up to 2 years
  • 4.62 hours of annual leave each pay period over 2 years
  • 5.54 hours of annual leave each pay period over 5 years
  • 6.46 hours of annual leave each pay period over 10 years
  • 7.38 hours of annual leave each pay period over 15 years
  • 8.31 hours of annual leave each pay period over 20 years

Sick Leave

Employees holding approved positions will accrue sick leave from the date of hire.   Full-time employees will receive 3.69 hours of sick leave each pay period.

Health Care 

Following a 6 month probation period, the agency will contribute a specified dollar amount per month toward the employee's BCBS health care premium.

Dental Plan 

Following a 6 month probation period, the agency will contribute a specified dollar amount per month toward the employee's BCBS dental premium.

Retirement Plan 

MVAW contributes 9% of each employee's salary towards the plan with no out of pocket expense for the employee.  Employees generally become eligible within 6-12 months.  Vesting and eligibility details are outlined in the plan summary.

Life Insurance

This benefit becomes effective after 30 days of continuous employment.  The plan will pay 2 times the employee's annual earnings. There is no out of pocket expense to the employee.

Employee Assistance Program

The EAP program provides professional support to employees who may be having a difficult time in their personal life or on the job.  It is a confidential program which is available 24 hours a day, at no out-of-pocket expense to the employee.  More specific details are given during new staff orientation.  

Holidays

There are11 holidays observed by MVAW.   If you are required to work on one of the designated holidays, you are compensated for the holiday pay plus the number of hours worked that day.

Short and Long Term Disability

Eligibility begins following 30 days of continuous employment.  When a qualifying event occurs, the employee will be paid 60% of his/her normal salary.

"Finders Keepers" Program 

This program is an excellent way for a current employee with MVAW to get rewarded for referring someone to come work at the agency.   You will receive $25 for each referral that is hired.  If the referral stays employed, you will receive another $50 after 3 months.   The rewards continue to get larger the longer your referral stays.  

If both you and the hired employee are still with MVAW at the end of one year, you are given another $250 and one extra day of annual leave, AND your name is entered into a drawing for a vacation package to Hawaii.  The trip to Hawaii includes air fare and hotel (3 nights) for two people.
